Corvette: Sales, News & Lifestyle: 41 Years Ago Today A Young Man Buys A 1966 Corvette…

Phillip Cornett was working for Ethicon, a division of Johnson and Johnson. That year, J&J awarded the top salesman from each of their divisions a 1966 Ford Mustang. My father won the Mustang, but being a Chevy man he said "What would I do with an old Ford?" The day he picked up the Mustang, he drove it Rohrer Chevrolet in Camden, New Jersey and traded it in for a 1966 Corvette.

Stock Spam 2.0 - Forbes.com

While trying to catch up on my SpamAssassin mailing list reading, I found this tidbit from Wednesday. Just wonderful …

The world’s e-mail in-boxes are discovering a new, smarter form of stock spam. According to the e-mail security firm Ironport, billions of junk e-mails were sent Wednesday with a professional-looking .pdf attachment, a new tactic in the ongoing spam wars that eluded spam filters and was designed to pump the share price of Talktech Telemedia, a German penny stock on the Frankfurt exchange.

Resilient closer used guts, guile

Resilient closer used guts, guile / 38-year-old found dead at home

He was known as a great teammate and an even better person. In an era when players distance themselves from fans, Beck embraced them. He often held court in the Giants’ hotel bar buying round after round for ordinary people who would chat with him about baseball.

Cars: Chinese "Brilliance" Car Doesn’t Look Very Smart In Crash Tests - Consumerist

Here’s footage of some nice German people crash testing (40mph, offset) a Chinese car called the BS6. According to the Auto Blog, the CEO of Brilliance said "this very model, the BS6, would be imported to the US either later this year or in 2008." We don’t know a whole lot about cars, but we know that when they get a 1 star rating, that’s bad.

11Alive.com - Carjackers Can’t Swipe Stick Shift

Remember the movie "The Gang That Couldn’t Shoot Straight?" Now, meet "The Carjacking Crew That Couldn’t Drive." A couple of teens jumped a person leaving work at an east Cobb pizzeria. They tried to steal his car, but couldn’t.

Last Yankees visit a heartbreak for SF

Last Yankees visit a heartbreak for SF

It was baseball at its heart-stopping best. The Giants trailed 1-0 with two outs in the ninth inning, but they had the Yankees right where they wanted them: Matty Alou on third, Willie Mays on second, and cleanup hitter Willie McCovey coming up against the Yankees’ Ralph Terry.

Aardman Animation Anounces Four New Projects

Aardman Animation Anounces Four New Projects - Cinematical

I was so, so, so happy when Aardman Animation (Wallace and Gromit in the Curse of the Were-Rabbit) got a new distribution deal with Sony two months ago. And now I’m so, so, so happy that the two studios have announced four new projects, all of which sound amazing. It isn’t clear what film will arrive in theaters first, nor in what order these films will be released at all, but considering Aardman’s deal with Sony is only for three years, I’m guessing at least one of these will be in theaters by the end of 2008.
