‘78 Corvette Turned into a DIY Batmobile

Batmobile

Using nothing but his bare hands, some high density foam, glossy black paint, and fiberglass, one modder took his beat up ‘78 corvette and resurrected it into the 1989 batmobile.  You can even check out a 1960’s version of the batmobile also.  For detailed information and FAQ’s check out the author’s website.

How a Corvette gets built

Each day, the factory turns out about 148 Corvettes. Counting the painting of the many panels, the process takes between two and two-and-a-half days. There are just less than 1,000 employees working the line, mostly turning out Corvettes, though the factory also builds eight Cadillac XLRs every day.

Corvette ZR1 posts 205 mph top speed

Wow. Sure, it’s a test track, but it’s still amazing how stable the ZR1 is flat out. No drama at all, except for the blurred scenery. Stolen From: VIDEO: Corvette ZR1 posts 205 mph top speed - Autoblog

Our Ultimate Factory

No one takes the Corvette’s fame for granted; that’s why each generation of car is faster and better than the one before. Now, people will get to see how the car is built. And if anyone is deserving of some of that fame Warhol talked about decades ago, it’s our employees who build the engines, transmissions and cars. Ultimate Factories is their moment to shine.

LEAKED! Corvette ZR1 6.2L LS9 V8 sees light of day

We didn’t think we would get a glimpse of it until January at the Detroit Auto Show, but Jalopnik has obtained official photographs of the LS9 V8 that will power the 2009 ZR1 Corvette. The images show that the LS9 is a supercharged version of the 6.2L LS3 V8 like we previously reported. One photo also illustrates in detail a unique integrated twin intercooler that sits atop the supercharger. While it may not have the official name, the blue accents on the engine cover hint at the "Blue Devil" moniker by which we referred the car for some time before switching to the official ZR1 name. While specifications haven’t been released yet (we’re guessing it will offer somewhere in the neighborhood of 650 HP), just seeing the images of the LS9 gets us even more excited for the ZR1’s official debut in January.
