G8GT.com, 2008 G8 GT reaches the dyno (with video) - Autoblog
This time around GM isn’t skimping on the power in the initial offering, with immediate availability of the 361-hp 6.0L V8 from the G8 GT sedan. That will push the G8 to 60 mph in about 5.4 seconds. No word yet on whether they will offer up the 3.6L V6 as a base engine, although that does seem likely whether its the direct-inject version or not. There’s even 8.5 cubic feet of room inside the cab behind the seats to protect valuables.

… the GXP packs GM’s 6.2L LS3 V8 underhood. In this application (it’s also in the Vette, where it makes even more power), the small-block punches out 402 horses and 400 lb-ft of torque rearward via a Tremec 6-speed manual gearbox or a HydraMatic 6L80 auto. (Add another 2 pound-feet of twist if you opt for the latter.) A fully-adjustable suspension helps keep the muscle sedan planted to the tarmac, and stopping power comes from the gang at Brembo. Look for an upgraded interior with glitzier trim and well-bolstered leather sport seats. A Pontiac stand littered with V8s? It’s sure been a while. Welcome back to the party, guys. Let the wanton tire destruction begin!

GM FastLane Blog: Hugging a Camaro
You might remember Bobs post last week where he mentioned he had a photo of Ed Welburn hugging his beloved Camaro. Well, Bob and Ed thought their FastLane readers might like to finally see that picture…

… One I can sort of talk about is the Camaro. We had the first fully representative prototype with close to final surfaces standing at track side. It looked as awesome as the concept, and the blotchy black/white camo scheme could not destroy the great stance and proportion. The body fits were already better than what came off the line a few years ago. The interior had some hand-made plastic parts and showed some gaps, but was remarkable for the first car.
And the GT starting under $30K? Dang.
2008 Pontiac G8 to start at $27,595 - Autoblog
Today in New York during what we believed would be a mundane media event, General Motors dropped a mini-bomb on us when it announced pricing for its highly anticipated rear-wheel-drive Pontiac G8 sedan. The V6 model will arrive with a base price of $27,595, while the G8 GT with a V8 will begin at $29,995. Yep, they somehow managed to get the price of the performance model below $30,000, which, considering this car is basically imported from Australia, is amazing.
