Microsofts Moore likens PS3 to Dreamcast - Xbox 360 Fanboy

In a recent interview with Next-Gen, Peter Moore had some interesting thoughts on the current state of affairs for the PS3. Specifically, Moore offhandedly compares the machine to one with which he is intimately familiar: the Dreamcast. When given the opportunity to insult the PS3 asked a question about the PS3s problems, Moore said, "Im digging up my tortured past here, but remember Dreamcast?"

Summer of Arcade Party

Cloning ClydeOnly two more hours till Cloning Clyde :)

Today we held our own "Summer of Xbox Live Arcade" party to celebrate the release of Cloning Clyde tomorrow, and to give you all an example of holding your own party! Might As Well Jump!We had the 80's tunes blasting, plenty of Papa John's pizza (the "official" pizza of Xbox Live Arcade!), and plenty of Frogger and Cloning Clyde action.

Xbox Live Arcade Summer Lineup Preview

Cloning ClydeThanks to John Porcaro, I got a chance to go to this party last night. Street Fighter was great in all of it's 8-bit glory, Frogger and Galaga were very nostalgic (didn't get a chance to play Pac Man), but for me, the best game was Cloning Clyde - hilarious concept and execution, with the best use of animated sheep since A Close Shave. :)

Microsoft's Greg Canessa, who conceived and spearheaded Xbox Live Arcade for the original Xbox and who now heads up the Xbox Live Arcade business, introduced a new standardized release program for new downloadable titles from this point forward. Appropriately called Xbox Live Arcade Wednesdays, the program stipulates that all Live Arcade games will be released only on Wednesdays, at 12:01pm Pacific time. Kicking off the new release format was Konami and Digital Eclipse's Frogger, which is now downloadable for a price of 400 Microsoft Points ($5). Microsoft also announced the release schedule for the remainder of the summer, which is as follows.-

  • July 19: NinjaBee's Cloning Clyde-
  • July 26: Namco's Galaga-
  • August 2: Capcom and Sensory Sweep's Street Fighter II' Hyper Fighting-
  • August 9: Namco's Pac-Man

Where is (insert title here)???

Proof positive that no good deed goes unpunished.

Major Nelson’s webpage, written by an employee of the XBox Live division at Microsoft, has been an incredible source of insider information to the gaming public. At least, it used to be. See, a few weeks ago a game manufacturer announced that a demo of a popular game (as in, free to the public) was ready to be launched on Xbox live. Well, that seemed to be news to Microsoft and, as of this post, it still hasn’t launced yet.

Hell hath no fury as a 14-year-old-boy-with-an-Xbox scorned …

So, every post Major’s done in the past week has been littered with comments saying “Where’s the Prey demo? Where’s the Prey demo? WHERE’S THE PREY DEMO???!!!” His last post, concerning a charity sale for Katrina Victims, had about 10% comments related to the article, and 90% whining about this mystery demo. Yeah, because losing everything in a hurricane doesn’t compare to having to wait a couple of weeks for a free game …

Sigh. So, most likely, all this belly-aching will persuade MJ to stop blogging altogether. We’ll lose one of the most interesting blogs and podcasts dedicated to the Xbox around. Vast hordes of adolecent gamers will have to find some other outlet for their frustration. And the Prey demo won’t come out one second sooner.

Know what? I hope that game really sucks

When game publishers or developers promise Marketplace content by a certain date…I cringe. Why? Because getting a game through the certification process is very complex, and often those promising the content by a certain date are not fully aware of all the pieces involved in bringing content to the Marketplace..and then when the content does not appear, well you know what happens. … Unfortunately it’s not reasonable for me to chase content around because the release dates are so tentative, and things change daily…plus I actually have a lot more work to do..this blog just happens to be the most high profile part of what I do.
