Happy 50th anniversary, Jay Barbree!

Jay BarbreeBarbree is the only journalist to cover every single manned mission that the U.S. space program has had, starting in the early 60s. When NASA started the “teacher in space” program in the 1980s, they also started a “journalist in space” program, and Barbree was one of the 40 finalists (both were shut down after the Challenger explosion).

Heroes gets the Greatest American Hero - TV Squad

William KattAccording to an interview with Newsarama, the actor William Katt who is best known from the ’80s television show The Greatest American Hero will be appearing in a guest starring capacity on the NBC show Heroes. He is playing a reporter that is pursuing Ali Larter’s ‘Nikki’ character (who, given this information, likely survived the explosion that ended last season).

Watch the Skies! ‘The Greatest American Hero’ is Returning!

Freakin’ Awesome. But who could fill Robert Culp’s Shoes? Bring him out of retirement!

It’s like a light of a new day. It came from out of the blue — breaking me out of the spell I was in, making all of my wishes come….true? I’m not ashamed to say it — I am a huge fan of The Greatest American Hero. I would take on a job shining Robert Culp’s shoes if given the opportunity, and William Katt is one of the big reasons that I own the movie Jawbreaker (even though he’s only in it for a split second). Ralph Hinkley is my hero, and I’d pick him over Spider-Man, Superman, or even Wolverine (okay, maybe not the last one, if we’re talking X-Men or X2).
